The Impact of AI on Employment and the Workforce

Table of Contents
The development of human technology has made a lot of things easier, and thus the performance of work. Jobs that we can do via machines are increasingly represented. Artificial intelligence is something that we could only dream of in the past, but now we are witnesses of magnificent progress. What is actually artificial intelligence and how it affects the work culture?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a machine to understand and accomplish the functions that are characteristic of a human being. This is a way of process automation. Let’s find out how it impacts on the workforce reality.
Artificial intelligence in the workforce
For the human, it’s hard and impossible to work without some rest. That’s why we see people that are working in two or three shifts. Artificial intelligence in the workforce can exchange the human workforce, but will it be efficient enough? Use of artificial intelligence is undeniable as it simplifies services, business communication and clients support without need of people to perform some monotonous actions leaving it to machines or apps. Such a leap in technology means that we rather need to specialize in soft skills like communication and leadership to remain productive.
AI impacts on jobs
Has AI impacts on jobs? Will it affect our employment? While some people think that it will help in the development of industry, others think it will just make more people stay without their jobs. What we know for sure is that AI will affect the manufacturing industry the most. Machines with artificial intelligence will exchange human force and it will make production to go faster and product to be with fewer imperfections.
Should we really worry about our employment? Yes and no. When we think about jobs and AI we can conclude that it would be harder to get employment in those fields where the computer does everything instead of a human. However, the computer can’t work alone without being checked by a human. It needs to be cleansed, programmed, and sometimes fixed. Those jobs will be more wanted, but it would still be not enough for every single human that lost his job because of AI.
Will the employment history of the human be less appreciated?
Today, there are more people employed in the IT sector. Blacksmiths, painters, plumbers, and others are sometimes hard to be found. After jobs and AI become tightly connected, people will maybe start to learn these professions. It’s not easy to do your job precisely and with your hands, that’s why these jobs will be more appreciated than those in the IT sector.
How to prepare people for future automation and AI?
AI in the workforce sounds like a good idea, but not for everyone. Some people would not be able to accept that artificial intelligence will replace them. Because of that, it will be necessary to start preparation slowly. In that case, we won’t feel that much difference. It will take hundreds of years, but we would avoid the worst scenario where some of us would start to protest.
AI impacts on jobs are harsh, but at the same time indispensable. Humanity will need to get adjusted to the new era where computers with artificial intelligence will rule the world.
